Frequently Asked Questions

YOUR SESSION

We generally shoot a handful of different looks for our clients during the session. Shooting a range of looks over the course of the session allows us to get a variety of shots for your use allowing you to mix up the shots for whatever marketing purposes you choose.

Part of our process is to edit the session with you as you go. We will inspect each shot one by one with you to determine whether or not you will potentially use an image or not. By shooting and editing in this manner we can adjust the focus of the shots during the session to account for anything we feel we may have missed along the way. You’ll leave knowing exactly what you will be working with when you walk out of the studio by having gone through the entire session and kept only the images that have met your approval along the way.

RETOUCHING AND PRINTING

We process all the images taken through a color correction database. Once you’ve chosen the shots you’d like to work with you can place an order for retouching with us if needed.

CLOTHING

Feel free to bring a range of different options for clothing. #1 rule for us is that you have to love it! If you don’t feel comfortable in it, you won’t shoot well while wearing it.

We suggest you bring a range of different colors and necklines. If you have any doubt about whether something will work or not just bring it along. Don’t be seasonal; everything from t-shirts, tank tops to sweaters and light jackets can work. We love textures and layers as well and try to keep it minimal on the jewelry. Studs or small earrings work and simple necklaces, anything hanging or chunky will usually draw too much attention in a headshot. Have some fun with this, if you feel your wardrobe is missing something then go shopping and we’ll keep the tags on it in case you’d like to return the items after the shoot.

HAIR AND MAKEUP

Women’s makeup:

Makeup for the session is highly recommended for all women. The makeup for the session includes hair help.

The makeup is applied specifically for the lighting we use and we usually start very naturally to give you a very clean simple look. We do touch ups and will add subtle changes to the makeup as the shoot progresses. If you’d like to start off a little heavier on the makeup we are happy to do that as well, just let us know.

Women’s hair:

We ask that everyone come in with their hair ready the way you would like to present yourself.  We want your hair in your pictures to be as close as possible to the way you look on a fantastic hair day. Of course our makeup artist is there to make sure it’s shoot ready and we will discuss what you’d like to do with it and make a gameplan for the shoot.

If you need a major overhaul hair wise make sure you discuss this with us prior to your session, so we are all on the same page.

Men:

We don’t recommend makeup on men, but our makeup artist can provide light grooming on the shoot if you like. All our work is retouched afterwards, so any blemishes will be taken care of during that process.

Facial Hair:

If you’d like to shoot with facial hair we’d be happy for you to come in with whatever level of growth you’d like and can shave or trim it down once we’ve gotten it covered. Bring whatever grooming products you’ll need with you to get it done.

SCHEDULING AND PAYMENTS

We are available for shooting Monday through Saturday and we usually begin our sessions around 7am. We do tweak the times depending upon the schedule each particular day, so we ask people to be a bit flexible. Be aware that the sessions overlap for women getting makeup. Women are in makeup for approximately an hour, so we are usually finishing off our first session while the makeup artist is preparing our next client to shoot. We ask that you don’t have anything else scheduled close to the end of your session in case we feel we need a little more time with you.

A non-refundable deposit of ½ the session fee is required to book a session. The fee is due at your convenience after you’ve chosen a shoot date and gotten it booked on our schedule. However, if we have not received it 24 hours after the initial booking request and no other arrangement has been made, the session will be granted to someone on our waiting list, so please get it to us as soon as you can.

We accept cash, checks, as well as Visa, Mastercard and American Express. We also accept payment via PayPal. The remaining balance plus any sales tax is due the day of the session.

We work with freelance makeup artists and you will be paying them directly, they require cash or credit card on the day of the shoot.

All deposit checks can be made payable to: Scott Photography and mailed to our TX studio address: 9406 Pegasus Run Road, San Antonio, TX 78254

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY LOOKS?

Looks are considered wardrobe changes.  Along with the wardrobe we may change the lighting and backgrounds as well if needed. You may add or take away one piece such as glasses or a jacket to a look without having count as a different look.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY SHOOT?

Following the session, you will get an email to a link of your shoot which you can download your images from. From there you will choose which photo you would like to be retouched (if purchased), and receive them back within 3-5 business days.

OK I AM READY TO BOOK …NOW WHAT?

We usually book up very quickly.  Please send an email through the contact page, with your basic info and when you are looking to shoot, and once we find a date that works for you, we will get you in the books, and send you a session agreement for the reservation deposit.

REFUND POLICY

It is our goal at Scott Photography to ensure you are satisfied with your purchases.

In the case of camera failure, inclement weather, or any other unforeseen incident that prevents Scott Photography from shooting on the scheduled date, the client will get a full refund of their 50% reservation deposit if applicable. Since Scott Photography provides non-tangible irrevocable goods and services we do not issue refunds once the session or event is booked. No refund will be given under any circumstances if you fail to attend the session on the day and at the time listed, when the booking was made.

Due to the nature of digital photography and the fact that photographs, once sent, cannot be returned; Scott Photography has a strict NO REFUNDS POLICY. Once a transaction has been completed (i.e., the session was completed or digital images have been sent to the buyer) it is then considered non-refundable. Refunds will NOT be given due to a client “not liking a photo”, selecting an incorrect photo after the buyer has already received the photograph(s), or any other reason. If a mistaken photo is sent to the buyer, Scott Photography will send the correct photo to the buyer free of charge.

Any questions regarding this Policy please call (210) 281-1085.

If you need to reschedule your portrait/headshot/event session, please let Scott Photography know ASAP to see if you can move your session to a different day or time. You may risk losing your booking fee if your date has been in high demand or if you do not reschedule.

Upon booking your session or event, Scott Photography will reserve the time agreed upon and will not make another reservation for the specific time frame. For this reason, all payments are non-refundable even if the date is changed or if the event is cancelled for any reason.

However, we realize that exceptional circumstance can take place.

Therefore, we DO honor requests for the refund on the following reasons:

  • non-delivery of the product: in the unlikely event that the photographer is injured or becomes too ill to photograph a booked session or event, the photographer will make every effort to secure a replacement photographer. If the situation should occur and a suitable replacement is not found, responsibility and liability is limited to the return of all payments received for the event/session package. The photographer takes the utmost care with respect to exposure, transportation, and processing the photographs. However, in the unlikely event that photographs have been lost, stolen, or destroyed for reasons within or beyond the photographer’s control, photographer’s liability is limited to the return of all payments received for the event/session package. The limit of liability for a partial loss of originals shall be a prorated amount of the exposures lost based on the percentage of total number of originals.
